LinkedIn Insider Secrets to your Job Search eBook Greig Wells Jonathan Green

Recently picked up this Kindle book to help jumpstart and overhaul my LinkedIn profile and attempt to gain the advantage on job hunting. The book did actually have a few useful suggestions that included finding a "superuser" within your network and if you had less than 500 connections, then you are not considered a LinkedIn "superuser". The author also did discuss recruiters searching by keywords throughout LinkedIn and that he personally trains recruiters to use LinkedIn. However, what was very off-putting was that throughout the whole book, the author constantly points the reader to his website for additional services and offers to do the heavy lifting on overhauling your LinkedIn profile.

The 2 glaring points where the author lost all credibility and respect were: 1) The author provides a link for special discount offers for Amazon Kindle readers for his services and 2) The first thing the author encourages you to do is send him a LinkedIn invitation, so that he can accept it and that you can have access to thousands of resources within his superuser network. So, when I attempted to follow the discount link for Kindle readers, it comes up as a broken link with no explanation on his website or any additional discount offers on his website. I think the most offensive thing about this book is that the author constantly reminds you to send him a LinkedIn connect request, which I did - OVER 2 weeks ago and he still has not accepted it!!! Where I knew this was a marketing gimmick instead of a useful book is when I went to his website and signed up for some free video on promoting yourself on LinkedIn and you had to put in your email address to see the free video. When I checked my email right after viewing the video, I had THREE emails from this author's website trying to sell me on purchasing their LinkedIn promotion services! If you really want help on promoting your LinkedIn profile, I would encourage you to find a legitimate outfit out there that will provide you with what you need for LinkedIn promotion, instead of this self-promoting trash this guy is trying to push off on the public.

This is the written version of an incredibly helpful and insightful webinar on how to use the tools of Linkedin to present yourself in a Linkedin-friendly format to make sure you connect with the people who can get you hired. Recommend this to any professional who is job hunting. If you use the information, it will increase your exposure and shorten your job search.
The book is a great addition to the on line seminar by Greg Wells; LinkedIn is where to be... great to take a vacation again; love Florida....... [...]

If you get back to work one day sooner or get a business deal it's worth the ~$3 price.

With the job market tools changing on a regular basis, this book is now dated. It refers to LinkedIn Signal product that no longer exists. Some of the premises are a bit questionable with a shameless plug for a service plan from the authors company.
Although I learned a couple of new things about LinkedIn I didn't appreciate paying for a book that was predominantly a long sales letter. I just paid for someone to try to sell me something. Not good... Also, there are many typos.
I bought this book after attending Greig Wells' webinar of the same name. I find it is easier to have the written document in my hand. Much of this book is what Mr. Wells discussed in the webinar. However, I was unable to connect to my LinkedIn account at the time and it was difficult to know what some of the screens were that he was talking about. Now that I have the book, I was able to follow along in the application itself. I found the book to be helpful, however there is a lot of information to absorb. The pictures were a little blurry making it difficult to read, so I hope that in the next volume, the pictures are clearer. All in all, I thought the information was valuable.
As Jobseekers we can do so much to ensure that we are found when recruiters and hiring managers are searching for candidates. This book explains how you can do this using LinkedIn. What I found particularly valuable is how you can increase your networks and your likelihood of being found with the number of connections on your "third level" and using special techniques to get found and to get the phone calls. But you have to read the book to get the details, the book does give you hope of getting that job a lot sooner - thanks Greig!
I disliked the fact that many of the specific links in the book do not work anymore and that's why I rated it a 4. But you are still able to find the info of the current special offerings and webinar trainings when searching for just the main website in the links or in the profile of Greig Wells on LinkedIn.
I recommend the book to any job seekers - there is sufficient value for $2.99 price tag - with a minor update this can easily be priced at least 3 times more.
the author has a vivid insightfull view of Linkedin, but the reader must be aware that the book is filled with links
that are lost in time, offers to use tools that are no longer active. the author sells a secret way to signal
that was bought and not working as promoted here. perhaps this 'out of date' info is related to the low price...
I must repeat that the author is really insightfull about linkedin...!
