This book is exceptional; and I highly recommend it. It is 'the' standard textbook on Roman Law, and the most comprehensive and detailed work on the subject available in English. The source referencing and footnotes make this an excellent starting point for any further research you may wish to do on the subject. A working knowledge of Latin may be helpful, but translations are provided for the most part.It may be desirable to use this book in conjunction with a more contemporary textbook (such as Borowski & du Plessis) but only if one needs to add a layer of modern scholarship to this great work. A must buy!
